Soling World Championship - 27 teams arriving between tomorrow and Sunday
PORTO ALEGRE, BRAZIL-(15-1-2004) Xandi Paradeda Snipe world champion, Soling South American champion in 2002 and a known name in the 470 class confirmed that he is racing the worlds next week.

The activity started to burn in the Yacht Club Veleiros do Sul where the team Westel (Wossala/Kovasci/Nemeth) already landed and arriving tomorrow the 2003 European champion Balazs Gyenese with his crew Monus Gyula & Karoly Vezer. The first Argentine team to travel will be Collins / Vidal / Gibelli leaving buenos Aires on friday noon, they will have a particular trip where after droping one boat inside VDS they will need to catch another one back in Buenos Aires.(3000 km in three consecutive days) the whole effort is to allow more boats available at the worlds. 27 boats are lined up to start the first race, a special fleet where 40% are boats rebuilded in full from the 70' and 80'. Some particular new ones will take part in the event like the one is going to be used by Warburg/Celedoni/Smith a 99 boat prepared for Sydney 2000 or Glomb/Vergo/Gick who will using the Sydney 2000 olympic boat winner.

A small cup contest will take part on friday where a battle between Hungarians and Brazilians will be the main atraction.

The forecast for the weekend looks great with sunny days and breeze during the afternoon. Teams arriving earlier besides sailing will be able to enjoy the swimming pool and all club activities.
